Dr. Frankie Fraulin is currently the Site Chief of Surgery at the Alberta Children’s Hospital and the Section Head of Pediatric Surgery in the Department of Surgery, University of Calgary Cumming School of Medicine and Alberta Health Services. He has received several teaching awards including most recently the Department of Surgery Educator of the Year award in 2017. Dr. Fraulin has supervised many medical students and residents with their research projects. Currently his research interests include the evaluation of a smart phone application for physicians to be used for secure messaging and clinical photography, the development of a prediction tool and clinical care pathway for pediatric hand fractures, and the establishment of reproducible triage criteria for cleft lip and palate surgical missions in developing countries. He is also planning to evaluate the use of fractionated CO2 lasers on scars in pediatric burn patients and to develop an improved clinical care pathway for post op cleft palate patients, with the help of the EQuIS team.
